Lavender country
At Pipsqueak
These images were born on the ancestral homelands of the Duwamish and Coast Salish peoples, in Seattle, Washington. Featuring the late, beloved PNW queer country icon, Peter Haggerty and his band Lavender Country. In 1973, Patrick Haggerty produced the first known openly gay record in country music. He was a dedicated queer rights activist and antifascist, singing out for joy and liberation until his last days. The images above showcase one of his last performances in Seattle before passing in October 2022.
